About IDC

IDC Mandate

Our mandate is to guide, coordinate, and support development pathways rooted in indigenous sovereignty, ecological stewardship, economic innovation, and inclusive governance, ensuring that Ilaje people become key architects of their own future.

What We Do

The Council serves as a strategic planning and coordination body that:

- Advocates for Ilaje interests at traditional, regional, national, and international levels.

- Facilitates stakeholder partnerships across sectors and geographies.

- Supports implementation of development programs under the Ilaje Vision Masterplan.

- Engages in policy dialogue, legal reform, and operates advisory and monitoring services.

- Serves as a bridge between modern governance systems and traditional authority structures.

We are a council of Ilaje visionaries with a shared commitment to the socioeconomic transformation and self-determination of our people.

Why We Exist

The IDC exists because Ilaje people deserve better:

Better access to infrastructures and human development

A sovereign voice in matter that affect their coastal communities

Investment in youth, culture, and ecological wealth

Development that is driven with us, not for us

Our existence is a strategic response to decades of neglect, environmental degradation, and marginalization, and a commitment to build an organized, respected, empowered the Ilaje.
