The IDC operates through a structured institutional framework that includes:
General Council: Comprising community representatives, professional advisors, and partner liaisons.
Traditional Liaison Wing: Direct interface with royal houses and chieftaincy institutions.
Strategic Secretariat: Operational and administrative arm responsible for executing Council programs.
Sovereign Development Clusters: Specialized working groups aligned with core development sectors (e.g., infrastructure, education, blue economy, climate resilience).
Youth and Diaspora Engagement Office: Ensuring voices of young Ilajes and those abroad are integrated into national strategies.
The Council is led by a Chairperson and governed by an Executive Committee comprising sectoral leaders, traditional advisors, and representatives from the Ilaje diaspora. Strategic oversight is provided by the Board of Patrons and Elders, while technical functions are carried out by the Secretariat and taskforce clusters.
Leadership appointments are made in accordance with the IDC Bylaws, with emphasis on competence, community credibility, and commitment to the Ilaje Vision.
